My whole life I grew up playing sports. From soccer, baseball, and basketball to competing in rodeos in events like the bull riding. I’ve always been on the go, always doing something fast paced and physically strenuous.
When I was 16 years old, I got in a rollover car accident which resulted in a below the knee amputation of my right leg.
I knew this wouldn’t slow me down much, as not much does, and immediately started physical therapy. I was soon fitted with my first prosthesis (not by Bremer) and knew it wouldn’t be long before I’d be back to my active self. I asked about getting back to bull riding, which was met with hesitation.
I was basically told that there were some things I’d never do again and I’d have to adjust accordingly.
At that point I knew I was going to have to go somewhere else. I was referred to Bremer, and going to them was one of the best decisions I’ve made. They immediately got me into a better fitting prosthesis which allowed me to be way more active.
They’ve done everything in their power to make sure I’ve been able to stay doing what I love, including riding bulls. I’ve been able to return to riding bulls competitively on a week in and week out basis and stay as physically active as I’ve wanted to be.
Aside from that, they’ve treated me like family from the very first time I came in the door. I couldn’t thank the crew enough for everything they’ve done for me.
I’m so grateful to be at a place where my passion has been supported to the fullest and for the tireless work that has gone into making sure I can still pursue it.
It’s truly been a blessing and I can’t thank the entire Bremer crew enough for support and care they’ve given me.
